Types and benefits of buttermilk

*BUTTERMILK IS OF 5 VARIETIES AS PER OUR ANCIENT TEXTS*

*1.Madhita:*
Churned curds without adding water –
Helps in decreasing weakness, stomach problems like increase of Vata due to Pitta, taste related problems, stopping of urination, decreases loose motions, bestows strength to body. Can be taken in Sarath, Hemanth, Sisira seasons.

*2.MilitHa:*
Buttermilk prepared with curds and water in 1:3 ratio.
Decreases Pitta, tastelessness, loose motions, decreases Vata in blood. Can be taken in all seasons.

*3.Golam:*
Buttermilk prepared with 1:1.5 ratio.
Increases sperm coount in body and bestows brightness to skin, good for eyes, improves digestive fire, kaph problems. Shall be taken in Greeshma and Rainy seasons.

*4.Shadabham:*
Buttermilk prepared out of ratio 1:5.
Decreases problems due to sleshna, gulma, blood piles, bestows lightness to body and brightness to skin.

*5.Kaalaseyam:*
Buttermilk prepared in ratio 1:2.
Decreases gum motions, toxins, bloating, burning, Vata related problems, piles, protects from formation of wrinkles on skin.
